| Q: | What do I have to do to get my child tax advanced payment? | |
|
A:
|
Nothing,
save for filing your 2002 return. The IRS will automatically
determine, based on your 2002 return, if you are eligible for the
credit. If you have moved from the address on your 2002
return, make sure you have left a forwarding address so that the
check will find you.

| Q: | How do I qualify for the child tax advanced payment? | |
|
A:
|
Generally,
if you claimed a child tax credit on your 2002 return and your
qualifying child was born after 1986, you will qualify for the
advanced payment.

| Q: | When should I receive my child tax advance payment check? | |
| A: | If you have filed your 2002 return, the schedule is as follows: | |
Social Security number ending in: |
Mailed beginning: |
|
| 00-33 | July 25 | |
| 34-66 | August 1 | |
| 67-99 | August 8 | |
If you have not filed your 2002 return, you will receive your check after the IRS has processed your return. NOTE: The IRS will only be sending out advance payment checks through late December. If you file a delinquent return, you will likely not get a check, but be able to take the additional credit on your 2003 return. To check on the status of your advance payment check, the IRS has set up an information site to check its status. |
